Privacy Day – protection of personal data in the Kyrgyz Republic

Personal data protection is one of the most important tasks in our digital world. By ensuring the confidentiality of personal information, we create the basis for sustainable and ethical online interaction. In this regard, on January 26, 2024, AlaToo International University together with the State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, organized the international conference “Privacy Day - Personal Data Protection in the Kyrgyz Republic”, dedicated to the International Day of Privacy and Personal Data Protection.

The conference began with a welcoming speech by the rector of the AIU, Zhyldyzbek Zhakshylykov, and the Acting Director of the State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almambet Kasymbekov. Representatives of government agencies, international experts and specialists in the field of cybersecurity spoke at the conference. At the first session, Zhyldyz Tegizbekova, PhD, expert of the Cybersecurity Center of the AIU, spoke on the topic “Problems, trends and innovations in the field of personal data protection in the Kyrgyz Republic”. At the same session, representatives of the State Agency for Personal Data Protection under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Coordination Center for Cybersecurity of the National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic spoke on topics related to cybersecurity, protection and problems of personal data leakage in our country.

At the second session, representatives of science and the civil sector presented their reports. The experts stressed that the protection of personal data is an integral part of the ethical and safe use of technology, especially in the context of the developing application of AI. An international expert from Portugal also spoke at this session. 

This event became a platform for sharing experiences, discussing best practices and identifying challenges in the field of data security. We express our gratitude to all participants and organizers of the conference.
