March 5, 2021

The seminar was devoted to the topic: "Application of E4J modules in the educational process. Introduction to the Anti-Terrorism and Firearms modules".

The organizer and speaker of the seminar was Zhyldyz Tegizbekova, Associate Professor, PhD in Law, Faculty of Law, AlaToo International University; Consultant to the E4J of the UNODC Global Firearms Program.

The seminar discussed new teaching methods and provided more detailed information about the E4J University modules and its implementation. The speaker elaborated on the Education for Justice (E4J) Initiative, which aims to prevent crime and promote a culture of rule of law through educational activities aimed at primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education.

E4J has developed university modules to be used either as stand-alone learning resources or as a means of expanding existing courses in law, political science, international relations, sociology, and many other disciplines. The modules allow teachers to easily fit them into the current curriculum. All modules contain lectures, materials, and exercises for students. Access to the modules is free. This is a great resource for university teachers: https://www.unodc.org/e4j/en/tertiary/index.html

The Speaker of the Seminar, Zhyldyz Tegizbekova, conducted an analysis of the E4J Modules on the example of modules on firearms and counter-terrorism. Zhyldyz shared her experience of using E4J teaching materials and methods that can help students develop critical thinking skills and prepare them for value and effective action. Pr. Tegizbekova, using the example of her lesson on the topic: "The Right to Life", showed how the UN university modules can be implemented in the educational process.

This seminar was conducted in an online format and lasted 2 hours. This seminar was attended by 26 teachers, researchers, undergraduates and students from the Central Asian countries and Europe.

As a result of the Seminar, the participants agreed on further joint work, including holding the same seminars to promote legal culture in Central Asia.
